The great thing about diving from Ambergris Caye is the close proximity from the barrier reef which allows us to do surface intervals back at our dock. So whether you’d like to get just one dive done or have a later start to the day, you can join us for a one tank dive at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. Diving in front of San Pedro gives you the opportunity to explore unique spur and groove canyons that run from east to west along the barrier reef.
With over 30 dive sites directly in front of Belize Pro Dive Center, your dive master will choose one on the day depending on weather conditions or if you’ve been to a particular dive site before (we avoid taking you to the same dive sites unless requested). Before each dive, your dive master will brief you thoroughly on the dive site going over maximum depth and recommended bottom time. Upon arrival at the dive site, it’s time to grab a hold of your mask and fins and have our dive masters and captain take care of the rest. Once you’ve descended your dive master will begin to guide you along the edges of the spur and groove canyons pointing out many types of coral and marine life alike. Some of the most common creatures you’ll see include nurse sharks, turtles, rays, eels, groupers, snappers and occasionally, dolphins! These dive sites are not as common as wall diving which creates a perception of flying as you glide from canyon to canyon some of which slope down over 130ft/40m. After your dive, we make our way back to the dock where you can enjoy fresh fruit and snacks.
Our local reef dives average 60ft/18m and perfect for all levels of divers (weather dependent) and offer a large variety of coral, macro, and pelagic marine life.
1 Tank Local Dives is scheduled 3 times per day. Each dive takes approximately 1.5 hours.
